Looking for El Dorado

Here is a link to the first poem we analysed in class, El Dorado, one of my favourites by Edgar Allen Poe. After reading it again, read on to see how other people have analysed this amazing piece of writing.

After reading what other people have seen in the poem, reread it and try to make the connection to your own analyses you made in class today.

Feel free to post a comment explaining any new insights you have.
Enjoy,

As you read read, try to form an opinion about smoking and the effects it will have on your health. Think about anyone you know who smokes and the feelings you have about their choice. Our Next Math Unit...

Our next unit in math will be 2D and transformational geometry. You will receive a hand out today with important definitions and vocabulary for this unit. The first concept I would like you to be familiar with is the Cartesian plane or Coordinate plane.

Below are your tasks:

  1. Today in the computer lab you will use the links below to help research the origin of the Cartesian plane and then you will play some on line games to become familiar with this mathematical concept.
  2. Click on the following links to practice graphing points on the coordinate plane. For each game you are going to rate it based on the following: directions, difficulty and enjoyment.
  3. Record your ratings and definition in a word document and print it out with your name on it. Hand it in to me to be recorded. Enjoy!

You Make The Call!

Here is a link to the CTV Olympic website where you have an opportunity to make a sports call about an Olympic event. You can make a video, view videos that other people have created, and even submit your video call for prizes. Looks like fun.
