For those of you who have been under the weather.... and you know who you are!
Het, for anyone who is interested (or who have been sick) I am including a link to a site on ratios, part of the next math unit we will be covering. Read the fact sheets and work through the games and you may even download a worksheet or two. There is even a quiz for you to try out your skills. I am including another link to a page on fractions, decimals, and percentages, the other parts of our new unit. Learn lots and get well.

heey mr speer,
i tryed out the quiz and i had a question. The question was: Sarah and Winston both buy pet white mice. Sarah pays £8 and Winston pays £4. Choose the best way of writing this as a ratio.
I said 8:4 then it said it was 2:1 i was wondering if they were both right because they both look right to me.

Well Emptty, they are both correct answers. Even though the money is in British pounds we can still determine the ratio. The ratio of 8:4 is equivalent to the ratio of 2:1. the ratio of 2:1 is expressed in it's lowest form which is always a higher level answer if you can determine it. Thanks for asking,
