Dear Mary,
We woke up this morning to the sound of our sergeant yelling at us to get up. We had to go out in the trenches. When I was in the trench I was firing my gun and I looked over to see my comrade, Scott, he was lying there, blood all over his leg. He had gotten shot, I leaned over to pick him up, but then I felt a sharp pain in my back. I realized I'd been shot. I fell on the ground in a puddle of my comrade’s blood. I tried to get up but I couldn't. I yelled for help and then suddenly I felt someone dragging me. I tried to open my eyes to see who it was, but I could only see a blur. I saw a man he stand up. I tried to thank him but I could not speak. He tried to get back to where he was before he dragged us I saw him fall back. He had gotten shot in the chest. Blood was every where. I saw men carrying him! Then I could not see any thing. It was black. I woke up after surgery! I am fine now, just a scar on my back! I found Scott. He had to get his leg amputated! Scott told me who our rescuer was. I went to go thank him I asked the nurse where he was she said, “Sorry he died last night”! I thought “why did he have to die! Taking away his life but saving mine! A total stranger saved my life. I know God does everything for a reason but why this. Why couldn’t it have been me.” I went to his tent looking for his family address, so I could tell them how he saved Scott’s life and mine. One of the men said he started writing a letter, so I wrote how he saved our lives on the back of his letter! I hope they get the letter. I miss you and the family so much! If we are lucky, I might be home in time for Christmas!
P.S I love you!
Sincerely, Harold

The picture I saw makes me feel sad and how scared you would feel to be in war and how sad your family would be to hear from the captain that your son is dead. Just imagine yourself in a field preparing for the biggest battle of your life and it starts, your running with a gun and you hear many gun shots and men screaming in pain. Now how would you feel if that was you? I would be so scared. My life flashing before me so many feelings inside i wouldn't be able to handle it. So that is why remembrance day is so important to be because i am grateful that i live in a place where they dont send you to war without a choice. Here there is peace and we can choose what we wear. That is why remembrance day is very important and we should all be a part of it.

The Second Battle of Ypres
November 09, 2009
Sylvester
When I look at the second picture, the second battle of Ypres it makes me feel very grateful looking at all those wounded soldiers. Grateful that they would risk their lives for the people of their country to keep the peace or fighting for what they believe in. When I think of thisI think that I would never ever as long as I live join this sort of thing but these people do just that, and some people even people I respect have said that they are crazy or just plain stupid but I disagree I believe that these people are brave heroes and that they deserve respect. That is why when I look at the picture of all the wounded and fighting soldiers it gives me even more respect for these people and that is why this picture is inspiring to me.

This picture to me is very sad because the people in the picture are saying good bye to members of their family that they may never see again or if they do see them again it will be a long time before that. It is also very sad because there are many people who are being sent to war even thought they are very young who dont get to liv e a very long life because they are sent to war. That is how I feel about this picture. This picture is inspiaring to me because men and women risk their lives for human rights and for us to live a normal life and not be scared that we would not live for another day. That is something I would never do. That is why this song is inspiaring to me and how I feel about this picture.

Homecoming
I feel the most inspired by the 5th painting Homecoming By John Horton. I feel inspired by this painting because the soldiers that risked their life to make their country a better place to live was coming home to their families that missed them a lot. And if they came of that boat their families would be thrilled to see them again.

Everyday seems to stay the same
It's always so dark and loud
I wonder when it's going to end
Over top of us there is always a cloud
I know at home you miss me
Just tell me you'll be smart
Because even if I'm not with you
I'll stiil be in your heart
I hope this war is done soon
So I can be with you
But right now I have to help my country
So everyone can spend the whole night through
It's always so dark and loud
I wonder when it's going to end
Over top of us there is always a cloud
I know at home you miss me
Just tell me you'll be smart
Because even if I'm not with you
I'll stiil be in your heart
I hope this war is done soon
So I can be with you
But right now I have to help my country
So everyone can spend the whole night through
Remembrance Day 9/11/09
I was really inspired by the painting “Over the top” because it really reminded me of how terrifying war is and how brave you would have to be to go there. It reminded me that no matter where the soldiers are, they will always be in danger; they will never be safe. They all know this and they still decide to go to help make Canada a better place. This inspires me to support the troops as much as I can, because I know that they are working as hard as they can even though they could get hurt to try and protect people like me.

Remembrance Day Poem
by: mudslipper
The 11th of November is a very special day,
It's the day we celebrate in our own special ways,
We are very scared and for the soldiers we will pray,
As they go of to war everything turns shades of grey.
As the soldiers leave the loved ones cry forever,
Will they be back next year or will they be back never?
The soldiers are so kind and very very clever,
And I believe that we have peace because we work together.

Remeberance Day
By: Emptty 7A
I was very inspired by the painting “Homecoming” because, I could see the body language the little girl was giving when she saw the boat. I could see her reaction on her face in my mind, bright eyed and happy that her mom/dad or any other loved one was coming home. It also inspires me when i saw all the expressions of everone else, when the boat sailed out from around the corner. I don't know how a lot of people go trough knowing the their family or friends are in danger. If my family especially my dad or mom went out to war I would not be able to cope. For now on I am going to remeber I could be the person without a mom or dad, and to live every moment like it was my last.
Remembrance day
These pictures are inspirational to me
because it shows how much they want to fight for what is right. It also shows how much they care for our country and care about us. If they are willing to risk their lives for us we should be willing to risk our lives for them. Sometimes people don't recognize what they are doing or how much bravery it takes to do what they do.

Dear Diary,
By Cupcake
8 month ago dad went to war,
we weren't sure if he was coming back,
“If I die I died doing something good for our country” he said,
We said goodbye and good luck,
We hoped he was coming back soon.
We haven't heard from him in months,
I wonder what happened,
I hope he's ok.
I can't wait to see him,
Today's the day,
I wave as the boat comes in,
I wonder if he can see me.
Everyone's off the boat now but where's my dad,
And then all of a sudden someone grabs me from behind,
I turn around to see who it is,
It my dad!
“I've missed you so much!”

Heading Out to War
(the chorus of a war Song)
Heading out to war don't look back
friends and family waiting at home
thinking about what going on
watching out people in there homes
with nowhere to go
with no where to go
with no where to gooooooo!
Heading out to war don't look back
friends and family waiting at home
thinking about what going on
watching out people in there homes
with nowhere to go
with no where to go
with no where to gooooooo!
Inspired by War Art
By: Glutes
The art that was most inspiring for me was picture number 9, “On Guard for Thee.” That inspired me because the man in the photo was looking out the window, probably thinking to himself, “ this is the last place I want to be, but somebody has to do this.” He probably misses his family. I would hate to be far from home and not knowing that you will return home alive. That is why it is inspiring.
